PEARTREE LIFE: Experiencing Languages

The Beaujolais Nouveau has arrived!

No matter if you are an amateur or a professional oenophile, you should know that once a year you can buy wine for the year in progress. Now it is the perfect time to find wine from 2018 and maybe give it to friends and family as a Christmas gift!

You can also find some bottles to make mulled wine, which can be really nice when it is freezing outside.

The “Bourru” (French name for the first fermentation of the grape, or a young wine) is sold from the second half of October and marks the beginning of wine season and the Wine Fair in France and all around the world, which actually started last week!

We can easily notice that wine season has started when you see the bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau with the year in progress written on their label.

Apparently, 2018 will be a good vintage according to winemakers. The grapes were ripe and filled with sugar thanks to the sunny and mild weather. This combination gives a particular taste to the wine.

Of course, it depends on your personal taste and preference for either red or white wine.

There is a day dedicated to it, the 15th of November. On this occasion, Wales becomes an extension of France. For fifteen years, the export of Beaujolais Nouveau has increased in Wales and people celebrate this day. A lot of restaurants in Cardiff, and mainly in Swansea, had a special menu for you to taste and enjoy the flavour of the new vintage.

In case you have missed it, buy a bottle, cook something French, or simply enjoy drinking it with some cheese (and try not to miss the date next year). Bookings for these types of events have to be done quickly!

Just be careful and remember that alcohol needs to be drunk with moderation and there is a risk for your health when you drink too much.
