We have managed to carry out interviews with 10 unique and great businesses in the Canton area. We are happy to call them not only our neighbours, but our friends as well, who have been so kind and donated great prizes to our Christmas raffle. We would like to take this opportunity and thank all of them for such great support!
Yes, I know, it has been 10 businesses so far, but we haven’t finished yet! The last blog post is about a business that we actually skipped last year, but it has an important place in not only our lives but in lives of the customers and everybody who has been connected with it. And the business is, of course, Peartree Languages. So, let's start at the beginning and try to find out something about the school…
Peartree Languages was first opened in September 2005 by the owner and the Centre Manager, Nicky Partridge.
Peartree Languages is a private language school offering English classes for international students with different levels of English. The main aim is to provide classes that are focused on real and communicative English, improving grammar, listening and reading skills, but also to helping students with preparation for the Cambridge exams or IELTS exam. Our students can choose if they want to study English in a group or privately. We also offer teaching of other languages such as Spanish, Italian, Arabic, French and more as private tuition, that is available for junior or adult students. As we think that learning languages is a process that needs to start from an early age, we also offer a Junior programme in the summer for foreign students aged between 13 and 17, who want to study English and make loads of international friends. This course also offers an opportunity to attend many different social activities or excursions around Wales, so the students can get familiar with the British culture, people, and history.
Peartree Languages is located in the Canton area, a very vibrant and lively part of Cardiff. As you can see, Nicky has chosen the right location as now the school is very close to other great businesses or restaurants and Canton itself has loads to offer. I am not sure if you know, but Nicky firstly rented only two rooms in the building and as the business was growing, she added more rooms. Now, Peartree Languages occupies the whole building and the school became a second home for many students and interns.

This year, Peartree Languages decided to repeat a very popular campaign from last year - the 12 DAYS OF CANTON, where we promote local businesses from Canton area. Each of the promoted businesses donated a prize and these prizes could be won by one of our lucky students or customers who have bought tickets for our Christmas raffle. All the money that we have collected will be donated to BAWSO, an organisation that helps women from different countries.
