This is a celebration of the contribution that women make to our world...
First we are daughters, sometimes we are sisters, usually we are girlfriends and wives, often we are mothers, aunts, grandmothers and the list goes on. One thing is sure, whatever your gender, your belief system, your culture or your way of living, a woman is or has been at the heart of your world. Today is the day to celebrate the contributions of women, an event which dates back to 1908.
So, give your mum, your sister, your girlfriend, your wife, your aunt, your grandmother or your friend an extra big hug! Or why not just give a ‘hug’ to everyone you meet?!
Wednesday International Peartree Ladies say ‘hello’!
“Each one of us - with women, men and non-binary people joining forces - can be a leader within our own spheres of influence by taking bold pragmatic action to accelerate gender parity. Through purposeful collaboration, we can help women advance and unleash the limitless potential offered to economies the world over”

And the celebration continues...
Our neighbours at Fair Trade organised a wonderful display of products made by women in support of IWD 2017. There was even free tea and coffee! Nice.
Final thought...
Sometimes a song, a picture, a poem or an expression just calls to you. There is no specific reason why you like it, but the enjoyment that moment brings is a true pleasure in life. Last week I was lucky enough to discover the work of the Spanish artist, Laura Pretel, who has produced this beautiful portrait with a quote from Angela Davis which roughly translates as “feminism is the radical idea that women are people”.
