PEARTREE LIFE: Experiencing Languages

Peartree's 2016 Review

This is it... our last blog of the year 2016. I really can’t believe that it is almost the end of the year as I have the feeling that only a couple of weeks ago I walked through the door and said ‘Happy New Year everybody!’

Year 2016, year 11 for Peartree, has been very fast and I have got a very hard task - to write a summary of the whole year and describe the most important moments, but where to start? Well probably directly at the beginning.

Why not watch our photo slideshow of 2016?

This year we have welcomed many students from different countries and we have really nice memories. We will never forget Federico ‘The selfie King’ or Guilherme (check our main website), who described Peartree Languages as his second family. (Federico, our first Peartree Work Placement graduate!)

Later in February we had a great opportunity to visit the English UK Marketing conference in London!! And the best thing about the whole trip was that we could take some of our students with us, who won a competition to be interviewed. We were very pleased to see our students speak with representatives of other schools from all over the UK. The English UK Marketing Conference 2016

As Peartree Languages is not only about students, we provided work experience for young people that either study languages or would like to become English teachers. This year we were happy to welcome a great bunch of interns from different European countries that helped us a lot to improve our customer service and made our working environment very pleasant.

Our travelling Pear in Saudi Arabia

Peartree Languages is a place with a great atmosphere, that is made special by our students. Unfortunately sometimes we have times that are sad for us and that is when we need to say ‘goodbye’ to some of our students. A very memorable moment for year 2016 was saying goodbye to a student who was with us for more than one and a half years - Thamir AlSubaiey from Saudi Arabia. Thamir AlSubaiey. A Peartree legend!

Thamir came to Peartree Languages as a beginner and left as a student who successfully passed the IELTS and PET exams, made loads of friends, we met his family and he also took our Travelling Pear to Saudi Arabia!

Do you know that sort of feeling when you are looking forward to something and the time seems to go so slowly, but when you actually get to the point, the time just flies? That is summer at Peartree Languages. We can’t wait for summer to come and when it is here, we do not have time to realise it as we are so busy welcoming many more students. This summer was not an exception to us and I do not know how, but it went so quickly. We met new students, new teachers and group leaders, welcomed returning students, went for great trips and suddenly it was gone. But we definitely had loads of fun!

With the first signs of autumn and winter we all start to think about Christmas, but more importantly about the Christmas Party! And this year’s Christmas party was just EPIC! We had some great pizza from our neighbours Calabrisella, had a Christmas raffle with amazing prizes that were donated by our neighbours and also raised money for the Welsh Refugee Council (over £200!!)
The campaign is still running if you would like to donate and support you can find the link here. Nicky's The Spirit of Christmas!

All the pictures and video of our mannequin challenge are on our Facebook and YouTube.

We really hope that all our students that have visited Peartree Languages in 2016 had a great experience and that their year has been at least as good as ours.

We wish all of you a lovely and relaxing holiday and all the best in the New Year 2017!
