Are you interested in old castles, adventures, outdoor activities, enjoying the sea and having a great time with other students? Then you should definitely come on Saturday the 8th of July 2017 to the Atlantic College trip!
First of all, here is some information about the school and what kind of activities are offered. Atlantic College also called United World College is an international private school located in the Vale of Glamorgan in Llantwit Major and was founded 1962 by Kurt Hahn. It is not only one of the first colleges in the world but the first college in UK to follow an international curriculum. 350 students from more than 90 countries are attending Atlantic College and are either graduating with an international Baccalaureate or with an IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education).
Additionally, the 800 year old St. Donat’s castle is housing the private school. But the best is still to come, the castle is next to the Bristol Channel and so is the school. This must be a school in heaven! As the Atlantic College is located next to the sea, the school owns a Lifeboat Station which was used actively until 2013. Many activities are offered by the Atlantic College at the sea like Kayaking, Canoeing, Swimming, pool games or snorkeling. However, there are also activities for people who do not like activities involving water, such as Mountain Boarding, Rock Climbing Tower, Abseiling, High Ropes, Woodland Adventures or Castle Adventures.
On our last trip to Atlantic College, a Spanish school class from Catalonia enjoyed their time, while having a castle tour and exploring the surroundings of the school and the sea. Climbing on High ropes and Climbing walls was an experiencing that the students will never forget. Especially, when you are hanging like Spider Man above the ground.
Moreover, Atlantic College is full of little gardens which let you daydream. The Beast Garden is not only beautiful, but it has a little secret. As you might deduce from the name of it, inside the garden there are several beast statues looking everywhere throughout the whole perimeter from different perspectives, so that each place of the Beast Garden is watched by at least one of the beasts. One says that if anyone should find the one and only corner where none of the beasts are looking at, one will disappear in another dimension. Believe it or not, it is a challenge for everyone to find this special corner. Will you accept the challenge and be the one who finds the secret corner?
On our next Atlantic College trip, you can do some great activities such as Kayaking, try some great stunts on the High ropes and climb on the climbing wall. Take a coastal adventure walk and have a tour through the 12th-century St. Donat’s castle.
