This year, the European Championship is being held in France across ten cities. Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Étienne, and Toulouse will all hold games at one stage or another in the tournament.

Who is going to win this trophy? |
The tournament kicks off with France (of course) playing Romania on Friday (10th of June) evening. This Championship is very special for Wales and Northern Ireland because it is their first qualification and we can't forget about the fact that Wales has one of the biggest football stars (and I think the most expensive player) - Gareth Bale.

Will he help Wales to win the Championship? |
It’s the third time France has held the European Championships, having hosted the inaugural tournament in 1960 and then again in 1984.
The final will be played in the Stade de France on the 10th of July. The 82,000 capacity stadium is located in the suburb of Saint-Denis, just north of Paris.

The football stadium in the Stade de France has capacity 82 thousands people and it must be
and incredible experience to watch the final there. |
24 teams have qualified with some quite notable exceptions including The Netherlands, Denmark and Greece, all of whom are former European Champions.
The Euro 2016 Ball is the delightfully named Beau Jeu made by Adidas.

Even though we are not big fans of football here at Peartree Languages, we are trying to participate on the Championship as well. All our students have the chance to pick a football team. If that team wins at the competition, they will win a prize as well. If you have not chosen your team, please do not hesitate and do that as soon as you are at school.
For those who would like to support either France, Germany, Wales or Slovakia, please ask somebody from our staff and we can teach you the national anthem, so you can fully support your favourite team!
Peartree Languages is a language school located in Cardiff.
